The political parties want to give their voters freedom. Freedom is a key factor in the industrialized communities. Here again is the freedom to go where you want and when you want is a key factor. The free use of vehicles is one of the main symbols for this freedom. We have therefore to understand why the Transport Minister and the Parliament does not want to push the message of  careful drivers. This could easily be turned against them as if they try to limit our freedom to movement, speed, acceleration, fun and enjoyment with our cars.

The coin of Freedom To has a back side with Freedom From. Freedom From is Freedom From poverty, from hunger and Freedom From war. Do we find a Freedom From in relation to traffic? Probably most mothers wish their son a good travel by his car with Freedom Form an accident.

Most drivers wants the Freedom From accidents, some wants also the Freedom To speed, fun and enjoyment in the traffic. If the society accept the promotion of Freedom To in the traffic, the Freedom From will sacrifice. In the traffic on the roads we can not get both Freedom To and at the same time Freedom From. This is a difficult message and a real political leader would have to address this message and explain and act to the reality and the conflict.

The main question is the value of Freedom To, up against the Freedom From accidents and killed on the roads. The politicians have to answer and be responsible for the answer and the consequences.
