Journalist Hanne Hattrem on VG NET
(Oslo, 13.05.2007) has tested a
new Mercedes SL, AMG 55 with 517 Hp motor: "The
first touch on the
gas pedal is a fantastic experience. The power in the compressor motor
are available at once. The gear changes are very
fast. This feeling must be the same as being shot
from a canon."
Is it safe to have canon bullets in
the public traffic? Will you feel safe when meeting a canon
bullet?
"Greased
lightning"
Journalist Dan Neil in Los Angeles Times writes:
"From stem to stern, Audi's S5 Coupe is one smooth
operator, all refinement and lubriciousness. Get
it on the highway, and it moves like greased
lightning."
And further:
"Dump the clutch and the S5 digs for
China. In less than five Mississippis (two shifts), you're at
60 mph. Third gear is passing-lane Nirvana. Just nail the
throttle and watch the tach needle dive for the 7,000 redline
like it's being shot at. Keep the engine whirring away at high
velocity and pretty soon you're crossing into three-digit
territory, at which point you stand an excellent chance of
being thrown in jail."(Los Angeles
Times, 11 Dec. 2007)
The driving as a "greased lightning" may
be even faster then a canon bullet. At least Dan Neil opens
for the jail as the end station. The alternative is
hell!
Nirvana
and St. Peter
may exclude people breaking the law.
Is this type of journalism promoting a
safe traffic?
